This section describes the steps of setting up a 2Wire router for remote access of Air TV.  The 2Wire router is commonly used by AT&T/Yahoo home DSL service.

Step 1. Obtain the Local IP Address of Your Computer
Step 2. Configure 2Wire Router
Step 3. Obtain the Public IP of Your Router
Step 4. Test Your Connection

Step 1. Obtain the Local IP Address of Your Computer

Windows XP users, you can get the local IP address using the instructions here.  Please skip to Step 2.

Windows Vista users, you can get the local IP address using the instructions here.  Please skip to Step 2.

Step 2. Configure 2Wire Router

Open a web browser window and type in the address: http://192.168.1.254 to bring up the administration console for your router.

Go to the Firewall tab, and select Firewall Settings.  At "Select a computer", find the IP address of your Mac that you found from Step 1.

At "Edit firewall setting for this computer,", select "Allow individual applications" and click "Add a new user-defined application."

Enter "Air TV" under Application Name; select TCP at Protocol, and "1728" to "1728" as the Port (or Range).  Click Add Definition button to finish.

Back to the Settings page, select Air TV you just added and click "Add" to add it to the list of Hosted Applications.  Click "Done" to finish this step.

Your firewall setting should now look like the following, with the IP address of your computer listed and Air TV as an "allowed application".

Step 3.  Obtain the Public IP of Your Router

Your network carrier assigns an IP address to your router.  This address can change from time to time.  You will need to obtain this address.

Open a browser window on the computer where Air TV runs, and go to http://whatismyip.org.  This site shows your router's
IP address.

Step 4.  Test Your Connection

Now you are ready to test out your remote connection.  First, start up Air TV on your computer.  Then, start Air TV on your iPhone/iPod, and select Manual Connection.  Enter the router IP address you obtained from Step 3.

Congratulations!  You are now viewing live feed from your Mac on your iPhone/iPod via remote access.
