Set Up Manual Ad Hoc Connection on Windows XP
i-Clickr can automate the ad hoc connection set up (using the
"Direct Wireless" option). However, this automation might fail
on some computers because of incompatibility of certain wireless
adapters. In this case, you will need to manually set up an ad
hoc connection.
This page helps you to set up a manual ad hoc connection on Windows
XP.
Step 1
From XP's Control Panel, select Network and
Internet Connections..

Select Network Connections.

This will bring up a window showing network devices on the computer.
Right-click Wireless Network Connection and select
Properties.

Step 2
Now you are ready to set up your ad hoc network. Click
Wireless Networks tab. And select "Add..."

Enter "i-Clickr" for Network name. Select
"Disabled" for Data encryption. Check "This
is a computer-to-computer (ad hoc) network." Click OK.

Click Continue Anyway at the warning.

Now back to the Wireless Networks settings, Click Advanced.

Under Advanced settings, select Computer-to-computer (ad
hoc) networks only, and click Close.
Then click OK to close the wireless settings
window.
*** Important: When you are done with i-Clickr, you
will need to come back to this settings and switch Networks
to access back to Any available network (access
point preferred). Otherwise, you won't be able to
connect to access points.

Now you have an ad hoc network set up, it's time to make a
connection using it.
Step 3
Back to the Network Connections, right-click
Wireless Network Connection and select View
Available Wireless Networks.

This will reveal all the wireless networks the computer found.
You should see an ad hoc network i-Clickr you just
created. Select it and click Connect.

This will cause your computer to search for i-Clickr connection.

This completes the ad hoc network set up on the XP side.
Now you need to proceed to make your iPhone/iPod Touch to connect to
the ad hoc network you just created.
Step 3
On your iPhone/iPod Touch, go to Settings -> Wireless

Step 4
Turn on wireless and select the connection "i-Clickr"

Once the connection is successfully made, your i-Clickr network
status on XP will change to Connected. Be
patient, as the connection attempt might take some time to complete.

Step 5
Start i-Clickr on your iPhone/iPod. You should see your host PC
listed with the tag "Direct connection using Bonjour."
